Description: The cluster head is selected by the random number
generated by nodes in the hierarchical routing protocol which
is implementing Low Energy Adaptive Clustering Hierarchy
(LEACH). As a result, the cluster head may be chosen
randomly and be distributed asymmetrically. Focus on this
problem, this paper introduces a function to improve the
problem. This function uses the relative distance between
nodes and base station and the round number as its
parameters. Hence, the distribution of cluster head can be
symmetrical through changing parameters of the function,
and. With the increasing of running time, every node in the
network has the chance to be a cluster head, that is, the energy
consumption could be balance. The simulation result shows
that the lifetime of Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) has been
prolonged about 14 .

especially the limited energy, so it must maintain smaller
router information and reduce the energy consumption as
much as possible. This paper briefly introduces the wireless
sensor network, and analysis the problems existed in

A backbone in a Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) reduces the communication overhead, increases the bandwidth efficiency, decreases the overall energy consumption and thus increases network operational life.The nodes in a wireless sensor network forward data towards a sink via other nodes. The limited resources on the nodes require minimum energy to be spent in this energy consuming task. This necessitates a virtual backbone that can minimize the number of hops required to reach the sink assuming that all nodes have equal transmission range. In the wireless domain, this backbone is a minimum connected dominating set.
In this paper, I propose using breadth-first search (BFS) or depth-first search (DFS) with given range to find minimum connected dominating set.
